Welcome to Mod West Ranch, a one-of-a-kind desert compound set within a dramatic landscape of towering granite boulders and open sky. Spanning five private acres and bordering thousands of acres of untouched wilderness, this immersive retreat blends modern design, playful architecture, and destination-level amenities into a stay that feels expansive and cinematic.

The home sleeps up to 6 guests and features 2 bedrooms in the main house. The interior balances warmth and modernity, with open-concept living spaces designed for gathering and comfort. Large windows frame the desert landscape and bring natural light into the home throughout the day, while two indoor propane fireplaces create a cozy atmosphere during cooler evenings. Beyond the main living areas, a series of creative spaces including a music studio, crafts room, and haberdashery dress-up room.

Outdoor living is central to the ModWest Ranch experience. At the heart of the property sits a modern heated container pool, surrounded by a 720 square foot sun deck with sweeping desert views. Nearby, a large six-person hot tub offers the perfect place to unwind beneath the stars. A sauna and cold plunge complete the on-site hot and cold therapy circuit, while multiple firepits, lounge areas, and dining patios create effortless flow for long desert days and nights. 

One of the ranch’s most iconic features is its private drive-in movie theater. Complete with a projector, vintage speakers, and classic cars, it delivers a nostalgic, unforgettable movie-night experience set against the desert backdrop. A fully equipped outdoor kitchen with propane grill and pizza oven makes al fresco meals easy.

With a nine-hole mini golf course, yoga deck, children’s playground, swing set, telescopes for stargazing, and five acres of private boulder-filled terrain, Mod West Ranch is frequently described as a destination in itself. It’s a place where adventure, creativity, and relaxation coexist, and where the desert becomes part of the experience rather than just the backdrop.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW

- CHECK-IN PROCESS - Checking in at your FIELDTRIP home is now easier than ever. FIELDTRIP's guidebook contains everything you need to know. From reservation details, property information, check-in instructions, local recommendations and add-on services to enhance your stay, you’ll find it all here. 
  
- PARKING - The number of approved spaces for your rental can be found on the information posted inside the unit and the guidebook sent prior to check-in.  Renters and their daytime guests should park in the garage or driveway. There is NO on-street parking available. To avoid ticketing or towing, please ensure all cars are not extending into or blocking the sidewalk. 

- PETS - Pets are permitted with the receipt of a pet fee. The fee is $150 per pet, up to 3 pets. Please inquire about Service Animals and next steps to waive the fees. 

- POOL HEATING - The pool can be heated for an additional fee of $250 per night. For best results, pool heat requests should be made 48 hours in advance. This is a non-refundable fee, should the pool not reach full temperature due to adverse weather conditions, user error, or improper use. 

- EARLY CHECK-IN / LATE CHECK-OUT - Stay a little longer and add up to 2 hours before or after your arrival for $75/hour. Half days (11am arrival or 4pm departure) are also available for 50% of the nightly rate for the night needing to be blocked to accommodate. 

- DELIVERIES - We are unable to accept packages at the homes. Please plan accordingly and utilize holding packages at the local post office or nearby Amazon Lockers. 

- EVENTS / RETREATS - APPROVAL REQUIRED PRIOR TO BOOKING. Small events within our permitting requirements are considered. Please note that all events require formal, written approval from the County of San Bernardino. Additionally, an event fee starting at $1,000 will apply, with the final cost determined by the specific scope and coverage of the occasion.

- PHOTO/VIDEO & COMMERCIAL USE - APPROVAL REQUIRED PRIOR TO BOOKING. Guests are welcome and encouraged to take photos for personal use (and feel free to tag us @stayfieldtrip). Drones are not permitted due to county restrictions. While we welcome professional media projects, all commercial, professional, promotional, or revenue-generating photography and videography are subject to production fees. Additionally, any filming on the property is permitted only upon receiving formal approval from the County of San Bernardino. For these activities, we require payment in advance along with a signed production agreement, production insurance, and a location release. IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT IF YOUR SHOOT IS COMMERCIAL, PLEASE INQUIRE FIRST. Any guests found to be doing a commercial shoot will have their reservation canceled. Any commercial shoots discovered during or after a stay will be responsible for the production fee.

Located just 10 minutes to Pioneertown (Pappy + Harriet’s), 15 minutes to downtown Yucca Valley, 25 minutes to downtown Joshua Tree, 30 minutes to the Joshua Tree National Park West Entrance, and 55 minutes to Palm Springs.
